This is mostly a feature request to have a fourth name field for modifiers, items, groups, and menus - the guest facing name. I see a similar post from several years ago that has not gotten any traction, so hopefully this one can generate some interest. There are two scenarios in our group where this is needed - Kiosk/Online Ordering and 3rd Party Inventory Tracking.
One of our stores heavily utilizes QR and Kiosk ordering. They also have a complex menu setup where menus are changing throughout the day. For example, the breakfast appetizer selection is different from the dinner appetizer selection, so we have a menu for each that turn on and off at the appropriate times. All the guest needs to know is that they are looking at the appetizer menu, but because I need to know which appetizer menu I am editing, the menus have names like "Appetizers AM", or "Appetizers Happy Hour" that are then visible to the guest when ordering, which is ugly and unnecessary. For the guest, I want it to just say "Appetizers", but then editing menus would be a confusing mess. So we need a guest facing name field for Kiosk/Online Ordering.
Also, we use 3rd party software to help track inventory, so every item needs a specific recipe written for it. An "Add Chicken" modifier would need several versions depending on if we are adding 6oz of Chicken to a single entree, or adding 32oz to a catering tray, etc. In order for us to identify which "Add Chicken" we need a recipe for, we have to give them names like "Add Chicken (6oz)" or "Add Chicken (Catering Tray)", but this is also the name that is visible to the guest on the online ordering platforms and guest receipts. The guest doesn't need to what one particular Add Chicken applies to. It just creates ugly online order experiences and guest checks.
