Handhelds off Premise

I am bartending an event under my restaurant. This is taking place about 5 miles from our restaurant site. I am wanting to know if I can use our handhelds as payment for this for the day instead of purchasing square or anything like that? I know I will need a secure hotspot and wifi, has anyone done this before or is it even possible?

You can take it off premise, here is an article  on that, https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Using-Toast-Devices-at-Farmers-Markets-Large-Outdoor-Areas-an...  if you don't want to have to get a hotspot you can do all your payments offline and wait until you are back at the restaurant to process, obviously a little riskier and a chance of declined payments.
