Multiple Internet Drops?
‎03-18-2025 06:07 PM
I am new to Toast. Our internet provider, Spectrum, only has modems with one ethernet port. My understanding is that we can only use the Meraki router and that we can only create one network. How do we connect other wireless devices for things like our security cameras, music, lights, guest network, etc? Do I need to get a second internet connection from Spectrum, with a separate modem? Or can I create a guest network on the Meraki router? Or plug in a second router to the Meraki router and/or switch?
Thanks,ST

We are having the same exact problem. We also use spectrum. We haven't been able to get our network for our music, security cameras etc to stop dropping.

All you need is a switch/wireless router.
The connection will be something like this:
ISP Modem >> your own switch/router >> connect toast meraki router & other devices such as security camera.

What I found to finally work for us was to purchase a Netgear Nighthawk RS600. I connected that to our spectrum modem and then connected the switch to the Nighthawk. The toast modem I connected to the switch. I tried different routers but they didn't work. The Nighthawk RS600 was the only one that worked for us.

What I really recommend doing is having a cellular backup device connected to your ISP and a switch connected to that and have the switch connected to Meraki, and all your other Devices
