Hello,
I don’t believe Toast has the capability for doing this, but I’m wondering if anybody else has come across this or if there’s a work around. We have an active restaurant doing takeout and dine in and also a market using the (RETAIL) module. We are in the process of combining our takeout register with our market register so that customers can do take out food and buy groceries at the same time. I want to make sure that customers can tip our servers on the takeout order but not the groceries. Is there a way to disable tipping on the grocery items so that the register only calculates the tip based on the takeout food?

Hey, thanks for reaching out to the community! As far as I can see, the only option would be to turn off tipping for a specific device, so if you had a Toast Go and a terminal, you could, for instance, have tipping on the Toast Go for the takeout order and turn tipping off for the terminal.

Right, totally understand that. Sadly we do so much take out that we can't process it all on the Toast Go device. We will probably just have to tell every customer they are not expected to tip on grocery items.
Thanks,
Mark

I think that would be the easiest option right now, for any workaround I can think of, it would only work if you used two different devices, ex. If you had a kiosk and used that for retail, and disabled the tips on the kiosk.

Sadly, that won't work. We have to have everything on one register. Was just hoping that Toast had a feature that would disable tipping on certain items so that the customer wouldn't see such a large tip amount as an option.
