We have Order and Pay setup with credit card pre-authorizations.
We have been using this for a couple weeks and for some reason, we have a number of guests where their tabs do not close automatically. They are still sitting in our Open Orders from this past weekend. Credit Card statements show that they are pending for .01. 90% close automatically on their own.
Is there a way to automatically close the tabs on the Toast End? They are supposed to close automatically correct?

When using order and pay there is a chance the guest can forget to pay and the staff can then close out the check to the pre-authorized card. So these could be instances were the customer forgot to cover this amount or didn't have enough? If you provide your restaurant information, some check numbers and dates via DM's I can have support investigate the issue further.

You need to make sure all of the cards on the check are closed at the end of the night before the batch captures. That means if a card is started using the adjust key to adjust the toal rather than re running the card

Another factor to keep in mind when using pre-authorization is to ensure that the amount you pre-authorize is sufficient to cover your average ticket size. In our experience, we encountered some difficulties when we only pre-authorized a small amount, and the credit card would be declined due to insufficient funds when the total exceeded that limit.

How do you accomplish this with Order & Pay? We have our pre-authorization amount set to $30 but with Order & Pay it only pre-authorizes .01. So we've had customers that have $50 orders and then leave and when the bartender tries to close out, their check comes up as denied with insufficient funds. I was told from Toast Customer Support that Order & Pay is a standard .01 pre-auth. It can't be changed.
