Test view menu while building

Hello,  I am new to Toast and am currently building a menu for our new restaurant.  I think I have figured out modifiers and pre modifiers but would like to look at how it will appear on the terminal, which we don't have yet.  Is there a way to see the layout from my PC or do I have to keep building the menu and hope it all works out once the equipment is installed?

Best thing to do is use an android emulator on PC while setting up menu, especially if you don't have equipment yet. Here is a guide on getting that setup with BlueStacks https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Bluestacks-Download-Guide

Yes. I picked Google Nexus 10.

Ok, if you haven't already, on your laptop open  toasttab.com/link/apk to download  the toast apk to your computer, then just drag that apk onto the running virtual device.

Still not in. Now I need to grant permissions under Device Setup on Toast Web which I am unable to find.

Where are you seeing that? After running the app for the first time? Can you share a picture?

I got it. I logged in using the manager number instead, even though of course I am trying to log in to the employee number to see what it looks like on their end. Once I was in, I was able to make the necessary changes, and then log out and log back in under an employee number.

All in all, setting up a dummy terminal took me almost 3 hours.  This is the first POS I've ever used that hasn't had a dummy terminal as a native option. I'm not sure who you are or if you have a line into the Toast upper brass, but WHOA, this needs to be fixed. It is absurd for restaurant owners to swallow up a live terminal in order to run tests, make changes, and troubleshoot issues...it is equally absurd (and unfair) for them to spend hours programming a workaround. Anyway, glad you were here and thanks for your help!
