Customizing Guest Receipt, Kitchen Tickets, and Pricing

Hi!! I'm looking for any advice on how to cleanup guest receipts. I'm working on re-doing a menu that was set up for a pizza restaurant. As you can imagine, the orders frequently get mod-heavy.

The issue I'm running into is as follows :
Imagine that we have a customer order a Large Vegetarian Pizza, but they want to add pepperoni and remove olives. I want it to print to the kitchen saying only "Large Vegetarian, No Olives, Add Pepperoni" However, when I do this, it will list on the guest receipt as "Large Vegetarian $Price$, No Olives -$Price$, Add Pepperoni $Price$."

If I make the "No Olives" mod free, I know that it can be hidden from the receipt, but if a customer removes toppings from a pizza, it should adjust the price accordingly. I know also that there's an option to include modifier pricing in the items price line, but am concerned about customers adding toppings and then comparing their items total price, with their additions, against the menu price which is obviously listed as is.

With the desired set-up, it would look something like: Large Vegetarian Pizza $Price$, Add Pepperoni $Price$. I would like the removal of olives to be reflected in the parent items price line, but don't particularly care if customers can or can't see "No Olives" or similar selections listed on their receipt.

Essentially, I would like only additional charges to appear itemized on the receipt, but have price deductions included in the items price line. I was reading about the possibility of having all discounts grouped at the bottom of the receipt, but it seems like there has to be a better way to do it.

Would I be able to set any pizza's default toppings as "Free" or use sequence pricing to include the first selection of each default topping, then utilize the "hide free modifiers" option on the guest receipt setup? How might that impact item sales?

I'm hoping that I'm just missing something, because it seems like there has to be a better way to set this up. I don't want FOH to have to use any more buttons than they already have to, and don't want to give customers any confusion or question on their checks.

Any guidance is deeply, deeply appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hey, thanks for reaching out to the community; this is a great question! I think one way to do this would be to Configure your receipts to hide all modifiers and only show the “parent” items.

Here's how you can do it:
- Set the **Item Modifiers** setting to ***Don’t display item modifiers***.
This will ensure that only the parent items, like "large vegetarian pizza," appear on the receipt, and any price adjustments for removed toppings will be included in the item's price line.
- For additional charges, such as adding pepperoni, you can choose to display these as itemized on the receipt by setting the **Item Modifiers** setting to ***Always display item modifiers***. This will allow you to have granular control over how modifier prices appear.

Let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully, someone from the community with more experience here will also be able to reach out with suggestions!
