Tipshare

How are handling tipshare collected from servers and divided among support staff?  Specifically, when you are paying out servers their charge tips nightly.

I’m not sure of exactly how your restaurant cashout procedure goes, but for mine, I had to build a tip log spreadsheet that does the heavy lifting in terms of the math, and that also functions as a record that is used to complete payroll at the end of each pay period. We also pay out servers their charge tips nightly, so the servers write their support staff tip outs on their report and I enter the information into the tip log.  I have a drop down list of all tipped employees that I pick the server’s name and then enter their total tips & fees, their cash bank, their total bar tip out, and total support staff tip out.  It calculates what we owe them and that’s what I write them a check for.  I have a section for bartenders and a section for support staff that I enter their names and assign them distribution points that allocates the appropriate amounts of tips from the tip outs given by servers to each person.  It was a lot of work getting the spreadsheet set up to be customized to our needs but it was so worth the effort.  Hope this is helpful for you at all!

Set the UI settings to make cash tips declared.  then have the employees put their CC tips in that box at shift review.   when they clock out with their personal passcode.    Assuming everyone works under the same General Number in the tip pool.
