Toast Tap On Counter Disconnecting Almost Daily

We have a 12 site restaurant group, and are only a month or two into toast. The ONLY real issue we are seeing across the board is an occasional error with the on-counter toast taps, just not able accept a credit card, essentially disconnecting it seems.

It only happens to one or two sites a day, and they are always random.

A simple clearing the cache and power cycle to the tap reader fixes it every single time, but I feel like that shouldn't be the norm for a working card reader.

However, I am curious if anyone has any deeper insight as to why this is happening so often, and maybe any solutions for this issue.

A little background, We have them connected via USB-A to the printer port, and there are MSR readers attached to the flex terminals themselves. (Maybe this is causing the issue?)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It was an issue to us when we first switched to Toast. We replaced almost every component that might be the cause of the issue from MSR, the main terminal, and Toast tap.

Here are the two possible causes:
1. A faulty micro usb port. Try to switch MSR to a different port
2. A faulty MSR. Replace the MSR.

Or remove the MSR and only using the the toast tap for the time being until the cause is diagnosed.

We are having the exact same issue on our most used POS and card reader.  We've done the resets and - at best - it doesn't go down for a few days, yet the issue always persists.

If you have a case open with support, could you provide the case number? We can look into replacing the hardware!
