I'm wondering if there is some combination of settings in reporting to combine items that are in multiple places on the menu.
A dip for example (all the same portion size);
I can see the total menu items sold, and if it is in a top modifier I can see the numbers where it appears in the modifier report. I'd like to see them in one place. I have tagged the items I want to track, and the numbers on the tag report don't seem correct. I'm tagging the menu item in menus and the individual item in item details.
I'm trying to avoid pulling multiple reports and having to manually add up portions sold.
We are in the process of onboarding xtra chef. Open to reports in Toast or xtra.

I would start by trying the new product mix report if you haven't already, includes modifiers, special requests, search, filters by menu or group, and no date limits. https://www.toasttab.com/customers/shop/test-kitchen/product-mix-reporting

Also Group by Sales Categories and assign everything for each report you want a category

As an assumption, have you linked your item, or are you entering it in each place separately?
It is much easier to preform either solution if you've built your menu with out duplicates.
