Hello, My example is a Salad. I want to create Some pre-mod groups for in-house servers to use. Then I want to create Nested Mod Groups for online ordering. So for example inhouse Pre-Mod Group "Add Protein", and same "Add Protein" mod group for online ordering, but it will be set up as a nested mod group. I need the words "Extra", "Sub", "Add" to show on the kitchen ticket, which is why I have to do the nested mod groups (I'll have a modifier called, "Add to Salad", or "Extra: ")... My dilemna is that I want to remove all of the modifier groups from the POS that are only for online ordering. I see you can remove an item, but not a mod group from the POS view. It would be too confusing to have four inhouse mod groups and then four online mod groups appearing on the handheld, so I'd like to find a way to remove my online mod groups from the POS. Is there a way to do this.

Yes, you are correct on that. If you want to use pre-mod for in house mods and a different nested mods for online, there is a workaround that may sort of give the result you want by creating one more layer of modifier group.
For example:
Parent Item : ITEM_A
- Modifier Group1 : In_House
- Modifier Group2: Online
Under (Online) >> Modifier Item : Temp_1
Under (Temp_1) >> Modifier Group: Online_Mod ## You can disable the visibility at this level for online ordering##
Under (Online_Mod) >> Add your modifiers here
What you see on the POS would be like:
Item_A
> In_House
> In_House Modifiers
> Online
> Nothing is shown at this level.
Or you can choose not to use pre-mods and just integrate the "Extra", "sub", or "Add" command into your modifiers. So your buttons/modifiers stay consistent for both in house and online.
Another way to handle this would be to create a different menu and menu items just for online ordering. But it's a nightmare when it comes to adjust the inventory/stock.

Hi @JillR!
I believe we may have a similar layout as what you are trying to accomplish, the only difference may be that our online ordering MOD group is visible on the POS. Our staff knows that any MOD group within an item that starts with "Customize" is used for online ordering and that way our guests can customize their order online as easily as they would be able to if dining in. We have a separate MOD group for servers to use. Feel free to check out or online ordering menu (Egg Harbor Cafe).
Example:
Harbor Cobb Salad
Below you'll see that we have a MOD group visible to the POS, and another MOD group visible for online ordering and partners. We do this for ever menu items. If you were to take a similar approach, you'd be able to remove the visibility of the entire MOD group on the POS. To remove visibility from the MOD group, the best way I found to make it work is by clicking into the actual mod group and removing visibility there, but I belive this should be possible to do straight from the advanced settings page.

Instead of removing them, all you need to do is to change the visibility of the modifier group by unchecking the channels that you don't want the modifier group to be displayed on.

That is what I want to do - make them not visible. It appears you can make an item not appear on the POS, but I cannot make a mod group not appear on the POS but still appear for Toast Online Ordering. So I am trying to figure out how to make a group not appear on the POS, but still appear online.

Thank you very much au79teahouse. I am going to use a combo of your advice and Sdaniel's advice and try and make this work! I do appreciate it. Have a nice day in Toast land. 🙂
