Hi All,
When selling a physical gift cards, are purchasers given the option to associate that purchase w/ their existing Toast loyalty account? That would then imply that when the gift card is used for a purchase, that the points would accrue to the gift card purchaser, not the recipient using the card to pay for their check.
We sell most of our gift cards through our retail store, so as part of the POS payment flow customers can enter their loyalty account details or sign up for loyalty e.g. phone, email, which associates their purchase w/ their loyalty account.
Just not sure if that same flow occurs for Gift card purchases.

Short answer is no. When selling a "new" physical gift card, the card purchaser's information won't be linked to the new card sold.

That defeats the purpose of it being a gift card being given as a gift to someone versus a store value card. The gift recipient gets the gift from whomever purchased it and you add value to the gift by providing rewards which in turn hopefully gets you another loyal customer

So Loyalty card is also a gift card (think starbucks Card). If customer wants a physical gift car you can change their loyalty account number to match gift card. You can also just reload their loyalty card
