Online Ordering Processing Fee and LACK of ability for restaurants to decide is incomprehensible!

I am at my absolute wits end with TOAST. I received ZERO communication from TOAST regarding this update and only discovered it today upon reviewing my online orders. I just invested in a huge menu overhaul and am going into our busiest week of the year, where we rely HEAVILY on online ordering taking a portion of our customers out of our lines.

Now, I have to tell those customers that they have to pay an extra dollar to DO US A FAVOR and I do not even have the OPTION of absorbing that cost myself! I called TOAST just now and filed a detailed complaint and I encourage everyone here who is equally frustrated to do the same. They cannot ignore all of us. I need better communication from them regarding such major changes and I need OPTIONS for dealing with the changes.

If TOAST does not start taking communication regarding major changes and updates more seriously, I will be switching platforms. I have had enough major problems with them over the last several years and this bomb being dropped on me and my customers before our busiest week of the year is just about the last straw.

I totally agree and am done with Toast myself! I've been searching around for a 3rd party online ordering system until I switch out the pos. ChowNow seems to be the best but their credit card fees are higher and they don't allow for orders to be paid in store (another tactic to max out their $). They  charge $199/month (discounted if paid upfront) & credit card processing fees of 2.95% +$.30 with toast integration.

Let me know if anyone recommends another 3rd party solution. Thanks

  1. What about Square or Clover?  We used Square for 18 years with HillbillyWillys Bar-B-Q but when we moved to a new location with a new menu we thought we would try Toast based on the rep that sold us the POS...she was new and although we really liked her alot we were given incorrect information..We are now in a 3 year contract with Toast paying 585.00 every month for the first year and 486.00 every month for the next 2 years...We have been trying for months to get someone to remove any subscriptions and software even 3 hand helds and a kitchen monitor to reduce our bill but I keep getting emails just passing me around from one rep to another with no solution any help out there?
