Hello all,
I am here hoping someone can actually help me. I followed a toast training video (pre mods) teaching me how to set up half pizzas. However, it didn't work. Then I spent 40mins on the phone with toast trying to fix whatever the issue is. The end result was nothing. Seems to be my luck with this system. I used their video and yet customer care tells me it's not possible.
Does anyone have the half pizzas set up? For whatever reason on my system, I hit 1st half, first choose topping, next topping and it get all scrambled on the ticket. For example, I need it to show up as
1st half
bacon
pepperoni
2nd half
olive
mushroom
What I get on my screen is
1st half pepperoni
olive
bacon
2nd half mushroom
It shows up in order of how it is on my screen and not in the order I select them.
Also, is there such a thing as a personal Toast professional or direct rep?

We tried their recommended solution for 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas and decided it was easier just to use the special request button. Some customers know about our system and some don't but we don't get complaints on how we run it. If you want 1/2 and 1/2 on two specialty pizzas, we key in the more expensive pizza and put a note for the other 1/2 to be the other item. If someone wants 1/2 specialty and 1/2 pepperoni, we key in the specialty pizza and drop a note to put pepperoni only on 1/2. Once we got a system worked out we haven't had problems. If they want pepperoni with black olives on 1/2, we ring up a pepp pizza, and a modifier of black olives and put a note to put them on 1/2 only.

Our store has (what I feel is) a fantastic setup for ordering half and half pizzas. Here is a link to our online ordering menu if you want to check it out -> https://www.toasttab.com/sam-louies-iola-2150-n-state-st/v3/#d43896020-2818-4503-add5-55d286726a3ede... (If the link has some type of issue, it's the Sam and Louie's IOLA LOCATION).
The Create Your Own pizzas have options for whole pizza toppings, H1 (half 1) toppings, and H2 toppings. They show in the kitchen like this:
18" CYO Pizza
Pepperoni
Mushroom
H1 Jalapenos
H2 Pineapple
The option is also available for our Specialty Pizza flavors. It would show in the kitchen like this:
18" Half and Half
H1 Sam & Louie's Best
H2 BBQ Chicken
If they want a half specialty and half single topping, they ring it in under a Half and Half Specialty, then when selecting the second half they would select Cheese, go to the toppings modifier section, scroll to the H2 modifiers, and select the H2 topping. It would show in the kitchen like this:
18" Half and Half
H1 Sam & Louie's Best
H2 Cheese
H2 Pepperoni
The whole setup is very easy to use, and a toast rep was able to walk us through setting it up. I'm not exactly sure who, but I could certainly find out if anyone is interested in more information about this particular setup.
Thanks!

We made modifier groups for toppings.
whole, left 1/2, right 1/2 makes it easy.

Step by Step. This worked for me. We use 3 versions, all with different GUID numbers (DeepCopy); Dine-In, Carryout/Delivery and 3rd Party, all have different pricing.
I would make a "BASE" pizza with no pricing, add all the below. Then Deep Copy that "BASE" Pizza and change the name for all the types and sizes. This way you will only need to change the pricing.
First Make a Menu for "Dine-In Pizza's" (or Carryout, or whatever)
Step 1.) Types of Pizza for Groups (Thin, Pan, Stuffed, and Deals like 1/2 priced (used when pizza is 1/2 but toppings aren't, if everything 1/2 off then I prefer to use a special discount button instead).
Step 2.) Sizes of Pizzas (There is a more complex way, but this way works and is less confusing)
Step 3.) Enter a Group for Toppings (Do not skip this step or it will not show properly on the tickets moving forward in the steps)
Step 4.) Click the toppings you just created, and make Modifiers for Whole, 1st Half and 2nd Half. Don't add pricing yet.
Step 5.) Start with Whole toppings. Click it, then Click "Edit Item"
Step 6.) When in the Whole Toppings, add another modifier group for Whole Toppings and if you do Specialty Pizzas (or if you charge different prices for certain toppings, basic/premium, or veggies/proteins. If so, create a Modifier Group for each group that is priced differently.)
Step 7.) Click into Whole Toppings, make sure to click multiple select, chose a max (I think 8 is good), then also check the box saying same one can be picked more than once. Then go down to Modifier Group Pricing, and put "Fixed". This is the price for all ingredients listed below. You can do each modifier at its own price, but then changing them in the future, or Deep Copying them to other menu items, will be much more work.
Now repeat Steps 4 through 7 for the 1st and 2nd half toppings.
Once you have finished your "BASE" Pizza. You can now use it to make your pizza menu, with only needing to go through each step again, but this time going to the last step (Step 7) and change the price for each.
So go to Thin Pizza, click Add, then click Copy, then at the bottom check the box for Deep Copy and search for your "BASE" pizza. Add, change name to Small Thin Pizza, go through Steps 1-7 again to change the pricing. Save. Then back to Thin Pizza, click Add, then click Copy, then at the bottom check the box for Deep Copy and search for your "BASE" pizza. Repeat
Also if your Small Pizzas all charge the same price for toppings, (Thin/Pan/Stuffed), but charge different pricing for the pizza which is also different size, then I suggest you call the toppings by Small/Med/Large instead of by size (10"/12"/14"/16"/etc..). This way, you need to make a menu item for Small Pan, Med Pan, etc.. put in the pizza pricing, but then you will only need to COPY not deep copy the Thin pizzas you created for the other Small or Med or etc... pizzas. This will make a new GUID number for the Small Pan Pizza (That you Copy from the Small Thin Pizza you already made and priced out), but will keep the same GUID numbers for all the modifiers, and will still allow you to change the price of the actual pizza, with keeping the toppings priced the same as the Thin Pizza already made.
Hope that helps! Sorry if that doesn't make sense.
