Hey, everyone!

In this month's post, you can find updates on the following:

Check out more about the updates in the video and descriptions below:

Kitchen Display System - Food Runner Fulfillment

Food Runner Fulfillment is a new KDS feature launching on August 27, 2025 that enables item-level tracking at expo stations. It allows food runners to mark individual items on a ticket as delivered, instead of having to wait to close out an entire ticket, so everyone knows what has—and hasn't—been served.

This helps to provide clarity, better guest experiences, and overall peace of mind—especially during the chaos of busy rushes. Runner fulfillment is a critical enhancement for multi-course restaurants, family-style or shared plates concepts (such as tapas, hot pot, sushi, and dim sum), and many other business types.

For more information about enabling this feature, see Food Runner Fulfillment on KDS in Toast Central.

Menus - Legacy Modifier Group Workflow

On the classic menu group and menu item details pages, the behavior of the table in Modifier Groups has changed. To prevent you from creating a modifier group that has no modifiers, which causes problems for third-party ordering integrations, selecting Add now takes you to the modifier group details page. Bulk Add New Modifier Groups has been removed for the same reason. This change will go live on August 26, 2025 for all Toast POS users.

Test Kitchen - POS Translation (Spanish + Chinese)

With this Instant Access beta, the POS experience will now be available in Spanish and Chinese in addition to English. You will have the ability to click on the language selector at the top right of the screen, which will prompt a pop-up menu where the language options will be available.

Limitations:

  • The ToastWeb experience will not be translated by toggling the language on the POS.
  • The receipts will still appear in English, even if a different language is selected.

The POS Translations feature is intended for staff use only and must be used exclusively on non-guest-facing terminals. This means:

  • Translated content should never be visible to guests.
  • The feature cannot be used on any terminal that faces the customer or is positioned for customer interaction.

By enabling this feature, you acknowledge that you will use it in accordance with these guidelines.

I am the main account holder for all the locations, and have signed up for other betas with no issue. Odd.

Very odd, that link works fine for me. Can you get to the test kitchen at least https://www.toasttab.com/customers/shop/test-kitchen then find the beta from there.

Some show up, but not the translation:

Hey there! I want to help with this — can you shoot an email to communityupdates@toasttab.com so we can look into it? Thank you!

I figured out what is going on - we are already in the beta. I thought this was translating the menu items themselves, not just the KDS/terminal language. Once Toast can translate our menu items, then I'll get excited!
