Restaurants using Toast Catering & Events Pro can now require guests to save a card on file when requesting a deposit, making it easy to charge the remaining balance later. Just click “Request Deposit,” and check the box to require a card on file. When your guest checks out, they’ll be required to agree to let you use their card to charge the rest later. After the deposit is made, you’ll see a “Card on file” section below the payment on the invoice page. That card will have an “Enter Payment” button you can use to charge the remaining balance.

Our latest update lets you keep your existing site while extending your brand with custom, professional links. Previously, only order.myrestaurant.com could point to Online Ordering, and other important pages (like Gift Cards, Catering, or Loyalty) had to live on generic Toast URLs (e.g., toasttab.com/myrestaurant/giftcards). This led to inconsistent branding, made it harder to market across channels, and delivered a less polished guest experience.
Now, you can point any subdomain (like rewards.myrestaurant.com or catering.myrestaurant.com) to any Toast page! Every page lives under your own domain, so everything looks and feels like your restaurant’s true online home.

With this instant access beta, restaurants using Toast Kitchen Display Systems (KDS) will gain access to enhanced item-level status tracking at the expeditor—featuring a double check mark indicator when an item is fulfilled by the expeditor or runner—designed to improve current limitations that force staff to rely on memory or manual workarounds like printed ticket.
With the current KDS setup, outside expeditors and food runners don’t have the flexibility to update item statuses directly. This can lead to confusion, missed items, and frustrated guests as teams rely on memory, verbal updates, or printed tickets to stay organized. Our new solution gives your team a clearer view and better control over the order delivery flow.

This all seems great -- except just about everything requires an upgraded subscription to Toast XXXX. It's a little disheartening to see how much expansion is done on the "add on" opportunities when the base system is already a considerable expense. Even the Catering system -- for which I would love to offer feedback -- seems to point me towards upgrading to "Pro," but I need to prove Catering's ROI. Scaling to a second paid level seems... egregious.
With all due respect, what's in the pipeline for the Toast platform itself?

Good to see the continued improvements. One specific section of the system that could really use a MAJOR improvement is the in house delivery interface. From mapping out deliveries, setting up delivery charge, assigning deliveries and closing out drivers at the end of the shift. Compared to other POS systems out there this is the only let down that i have noticed since going with Toast.

I would absolutely love to see mapping of orders when you put them on, and possibly optimal routing for the driver when using in house drivers. That would be an absolute game changer for us. Ive heard from friends with other POS systems that it is standard for them.

When are we getting better organization for the KDS? It should resemble a classic ticket rail, with the ability to change the order of the tickets and to see all a table's courses at once. I've been told to expect it at the end of the year since 2023. I know I'm not the only one begging for this update.
