How can I make Toast adjust the tip amount based on the comped price, not the original total?

I noticed a closed check where a customer had included a tip of nearly 30%, which is quite rare. Upon reviewing the details, I found that there were some items that had been comped, but the tip was still calculated based on the original total. How can I set it up so that the tip amount automatically adjusts to reflect the new total?

Thanks for reaching out to the community! To have he tip amount adjust to the new total, follow the steps below.
1. Navigate to Front of house > Order screen setup > UI options in Toast Web.
2. Scroll down to the Tipping section.
3. Under Tip / Tax, choose if the tip should be calculated before or after tax. Adjust this setting to ensure the tip reflects the new total after any comps or discounts.
4. Save and publish your changes.
This setup will help ensure that the tip amount is calculated based on the adjusted total, reflecting any changes made to the order.

I only see an option to adjust whether tip is calculated before or after tax... but I am curious (I think like author of post) if you can adjust a discount code to adjust automatic gratuity to calculate after discount, not before?

Tips are always calculated based on the pre-discount check total in Toast. This setting cannot be changed at this time, as it is done to respect tipping etiquette for servers, ensuring they receive a proper tip.

It may not be the exact answer you're looking for, but if you want comped items not to be factored into the tip amount, split them of onto another check and then comp them. Can be done pretty quickly.
