Issue with names on the KDS that support is unable to resolve currently.

On our KDS' we swapped over to the newer Grid View option instead of the Dynamic View, it looks way better and we have had no problems with it until about 5 days ago. I guess there was an update and now any order that comes in from online, phone orders, and third party orders it is only displaying the first name/ first line of text. Prior if an online order came in with the name "Robert Smith" it would show up as just that, now it only shows "Robert" on all of the KDS'. With online orders that is how the name appears, however the worst end of this is for third party orders through UberEats and Door Dash. With Door Dash orders prior to this update it the order would show up as "DD bj8bs8u Robert Smith", now it only only display as "DD" and nothing else, so aside from the ticket number, there is no way to dictate who's order is who, and when trying to see on our drink screen quickly if a Door Dash order has a drink, it can no longer be achieved. Similarly with UberEats the order show up now as "•" and that is it, it's literally just a dot and nothing else, no name, just a dot. Swapping back to Dynamic view both first and last names are displayed, but not on the superior Grid View which also gives us previews from orders being placed on the register unlike with the Dynamic View option.

 

This is happening to us at both our store locations, and nothing was changed on the back end, and it is bugging me to hell because full names are what we use to get our orders out properly, and look if customers received drinks. Names are easier to look at than numbers.

 

Is anyone else noticing this issue?

Update- the issue is now fixed thanks to someone on the development team for the KDS's they were able to fix it, I came into work today and it still only displayed the first name, but changing the text size or changing over to dynamic view then back made it work again. Prior to me trying that it didn't change anything, but it looks like a hot fix was sent out just for this issue.

We don’t use Grid View on our KDS, but when switching from Dynamic to Grid, the names appear to display correctly. Have you tried to toggle the modes and see if it fixes the issue?

Yes, I went from grid view back to Dynamic to know that dynamic view worked, then back to grid view, and I still am only getting first names.

Have you tried to clear toast app cache?

Yes multiple times, but either way, it's every KDS and both locations facing it at the same time after an update, so cleaning the cache wouldn't fix something that is happening over many displays. I logged into the Toast App on my phone to show you the difference of the names. It's honestly a bigger deal when it comes to Door dash and Uber Eats orders since it doesn't even display a name.
