We are unable to close out some checks because we have gotten the following error message… “Error validating loyalty account”. Has anyone seen this before and can you tell me what the solution was?

It happened to me once or twice. Don't remember what the exact cause was. You can resolve it by switching the account attached to a different one.

Only time I have had odd errors with loyalty and not being able to close checks it was due to a customer deciding to not use their rewards and then changing their mind after payment was processes. I have never written down the actual sequence to fix it, but it basically involved fixing the payment amount if needed, either void completely or adjust, then backing out of the check, removing the rewards, (I think I go back to pay, and then back to update check) and then reapplying them by tapping the loyalty number, and then back to pay to close out the check. What I think causes the issue is additional points are accrued when they take the first payment, when you adjust the payment they are removed but it is still trying to apply the full value of their points which included the points they just received and it causes the error. Not sure if this is your issue, next time it happens I will try to take a picture of the actual error.

This process is correct, and has happened to me a few times too. It can also happen when the guest uses rewards and the check is paid, but then the payment is voided and you try to collect a payment again. I've had to manually go in and re-add rewards points when this happens, after removing the used rewards discount.
