Recently, some of our POS terminals have been having an issue when it comes to manager swipe approval when accepting comps and whatnot. It started with just the one terminal but more and more are starting to have the same issue. What is happening is that, when a server or bartender wants to comp/discount a check, it asks for the manager to swipe card or type number. Whenever we swipe our card on one of these terminals, it just exits that person out and logs us into our POS account. Its very frustrating when we are busy and i cant seem to figure out why this is happening.

You have to clear cache on the terminal or just shut it down and back on again. 😞 we had the same issue, TOAST support was zero help…

Hi,
Have you guys found that you need to clear cache or shut down the terminals often?

We only had to do it a handful of times and haven’t had to do it in a long time.… however, We ended up having Toast send us replacement card swipers (super easy to swap out) and we made sure the software was all up to date and haven’t had any issues since.

Manager swipes and card readers in general have been having issues. If you don't swipe the manager card almost immediately, the card reader won't read, or it'll say "pre-auth failed", or card reading error, etc. You have to close out of the action and re-prompt it for it to work.
