Method of Credit card refund

My casher tried to refund one item of the check.

A customer bought 5-6items and paid by credit card and she canceled one of those.

Also she asked the casher to refund with cash.  The casher called the check, selected the item and void it.

I looked at the precess and check up the class of toast, nothing help me because it say "find cash refund"  but can not find the button

I would recommend refunds should always go back to the original payment method but here is how to refund as cash (I don't have an picture to demonstrate the situation):

1. You should see a negative balance due in the position of box 1 in the shown picture.

2. Click on the the negative amount. On the right side where box 2 is in the picture, you should see a cash button.

3. Click on the cash button. Draw will open. Proceed to refund cash

Let's start by understanding the difference between refunding an item and canceling/voiding an item.

Refunding: The customer has received the item, so the COGS is charged because it was prepared, and you won't get it back. However, the customer was not satisfied, so you are refunding the price they paid while still covering the cost of the good.

Voiding/Removing an item: The customer never received the goods, so they are not being charged to COGS; therefore, it returns to your inventory (as if the sale never happened).

If refunding a customer for an item, you must specifically choose which items are being refunded and apply the refund to the chosen payment method.

If voiding an item, you need to adjust the tendered amount (same-day credit adjustment or adjust on Toast web).

However, you cannot void items and refund a payment because there will be a negative amount due on the check since no items needed to be refunded.
