Can anyone explain why the Toast POS hardware doesn't offer a screen saver configuration option, especially when the terminal is NOT logged into?
Our bar is not open every day, and some of the terminals aren't even in use depending on the event schedule. I don't want to power them off when not in use, so that updates aren't missed, and bartenders don't need to spend time powering up and loading the app.
Why doesn't Toast permit the standard screen saver options that are built into the Android OS to work on their POS hardware? Almost every other POS system including Harbor Touch, Clover and TouchBistro have them.

The built in android screen saver doesn't activate based on time, just charging or docked state so it really can't be used. You can manually blank the screens by touching the power button once (don't hold) They will still get updates and come back on when tapping the screen.

I guess that's better than nothing. How does Clover do it? They are android-based.

I'm not saying it's not possible to do it, just not possible to use the built in screensaver on the android version they use which is pretty much just AOSP. Not too familiar with clover but I would guess they either use a very modified version of android that they developed themselves or it's just built into the app itself.

isn't there a screen timeout setting in the device setting? Not sure if that's what you are looking for.
