I work in a restaurant where we take orders at the bar, and often times people have open tabs but don’t tell us (and sometimes we forget to ask) and we start taking their order. It’s not till we’re done putting everything in the POS that they tell us that they have an existing tab. Then we have to do the daunting task of canceling the order and looking up their existing one and putting everything in all over again.
Instead of just having a Send button, could there be a second button right next to it that says “Send To” which would then open all the tabs and we could just select what tab to essentially merge their new order with their existing one? This would be so incredibly helpful and would be used everyday!

Here's an article on moving items, payments from one check to another - there are a couple of options but if you have taken a credit card for the tab, you would want to Transfer An Individual Item to Another Check (you can select all when you get to that screen)

Thank you for the tip. That does kinda help but it is still a few extra steps instead of just two and when you have a long line, every second counts.

I think there are some changes coming to the split check screen that will make it easier to move to another check without needing to find the check number first. (no date mentioned for US yet) https://updates.toasttab.com/announcements/improved-experience-for-splitting-and-moving-items

This complicates things even further. If the action was as simple as pressing “Send To” on the main order screen, and then selecting an existing tab, that would absolutely be the fastest way to solve this issue.
