Summary
Please add a native Store Layout & Planograms capability to Toast’s retail workflow. This would be an analog to the restaurant floor plan + table management. This would let retailers design aisle maps, place fixtures, and assign products to exact shelf positions. Benefits: faster customer assistance, efficient replenishment/picking, and space productivity analytics all directly inside Toast.
What we need (minimum viable):
Layout builder: From floor plan. Departments → Aisles → Bays → Shelves (drag-and-drop, form, or collaboration).
SKU locations: Assign SKUs to shelf positions with facings/capacity.
Find it fast: On POS/handheld, search/scan an item to see “Aisle 5 › Bay B › Shelf 3.”
Basic workflows:
Replenish (guided by aisle path)
Pick (group items by aisle for online orders)
Cycle Count (count by location)
Light reporting Sales per foot/bay and simple out-of-stock flags.
CSV import/export to set up and clone layouts between stores.
Why it matters:
Less “where is it?” time, overall organization and operational flow, faster training for new hires, quicker restocking/picking, and better shelf availability all without leaving Toast.
Parity with restaurants:
You already have the floor plan metaphor; this is the retail version (aisles & shelves instead of sections & tables).
Ask:
- Consider this as a Retail roadmap item.
- If there’s an early access/beta, we’d love to participate.
- Happy to share sample layouts/CSV, and assist in any way if helpful.
