Transitioning data from old reservation software to Toast Tables

Hi everyone,

We’ve recently transitioned from Tock to Toast Tables and were surprised to learn that guest data cannot be migrated over. With tens of thousands of records in Tock, being told that manual entry is the only option is a serious concern.

Has anyone else in the community faced this challenge? If so, how did you handle the transition and manage historical guest data? Did you find any creative workarounds or external tools that helped?

I would really appreciate hearing how others have navigated this.

Thanks!
Maeve

I haven't used tables outside of Toast. Not being a Tock customer, I don't know, but would suspect there is a way to export into csv files? I'm sort of leaning towards Toast should be able to support an import functioality like what they do for importing Gift Card details for e.g.

Have you explored something like that?

Thanks so much for your reply, I really appreciate it! Tock was able to provide all the info via CSV, which was great... the problem is there is no way to get the info from the CSV into Toast Tables. The guidance was to "manually enter" it which is not an option for us (we have tens of thousands of guest records). Seems like a huge functionality gap and I hope they address it ASAP.

Maybe it gets overlooked because of where it is, but you can import via csv, there is also an excel template provided.

This link mentions a template you can use to import guest data, is filling out the template what you mean by "manual entry"? If so maybe you can write a script or use some excel magic to fill out the template for easy importing.
