Has anyone else been affected by the change that happened today of customer information being censored on the kitchen ticket side?
We have printed kitchen tickets and as of today the phone number is blocked out aside from the last 4 digits of the phone number AND it only prints the first letter of the last name.
I called customer support and allegedly this is a US regulation of customer privacy.
Not having the last name on the printed ticket GREATLY affects our operations!
I can understand the phone number but the last name is important!

As someone who orders online a lot, I love this. But as far as I can tell it is just printed tickets, it still shows on kds for me and is available on the check on the pos and in orders hub. Just curious what is the need for the full last name? Do you get a lot of customers with same first name and last initial?

I do get a decent number of same first name and last initial, but we base most of what we do for takeout on order number. In the POS we still have full name and phone number access, so im not anticipating a lot if any issues.
I am curious what regulation prompted the change though. I've never heard of it before today.

I tried to find something online about whatever regulation it is and couldn't find anything. 🤷♀️

Yes the last name is very important for us. We do a great deal of togo business and we use the kitchen ticket stapled to the packed bag. When we hand the order to the customer we read out the ticket and have our staff say the first AND last name. Saying the last name is one line of defense when we have 2 John order and John comes in to pick up his order that his wife made and doesn't actually know what she actually ordered so reading the ticket back to him doesn't set off alarm bells that he is getting the wrong order but when we say the last name IT DOES.
We do many things to ensure that every customer gets the correct order and the last name is part of those procedures.
