Is anyone using Comcast Fiber with a 5G backup? If yes, what has your experience been like with the backup solution? Does the failover happen automatically and do you receive alerts when it does failover? Is there a noticeable difference when you are running off of the backup? How has the support been from Comcast?

Not really a direct answer to your question but I assume most major ISP providers have similar framework and hardware setup at this time.
We have AT&T Fiber + 5G Internet backup service for more than 1 year. We get email notifications when the internet is out/backup kicks in and when the fiber is restored.
The 5G backup device is a separate individual device with battery in it. When the backup device detects there is no internet connection from the AT&T Router, it will turn on the 5G service and feed internet service/connection back to the router until the main fiber service is restored.
From our experience with AT&T's 5G Internet Backup Service so far, I would say it's not reliable than getting a second internet/5G internet service service from a different ISP and plug in when your primary internet is down.
Based on the AT&T's hardware setup, all internet connection including the 5G backup will need to be fed through the AT&T's Router. So what if the AT&T Router is down and power cycling/hard resetting the router do not work? Yes, that how everything went out of control couple time during rush hours in the last 4 months. Luckily, we have a beta 5G backup from Toast that helped us to get everything in order when our primary internet was down.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response @au79teahouse . Your point regarding sending the 5G traffic through the router is a great question to ask the Comcast folks if theirs will work in a similar way. Also, good to know that Toast has their own beta 5G backup.
