Is there a ‘mode’ on the POS device that we could turn over to kiosk? I notice a few major chains have this feature. One example would be Crumbl.
a Crumbl employee can take on order on the POS or the computer can be flipped around for customer facing ordering, kiosk style.

Well Rob, I do have kiosk subscription and I pay the monthly kiosk subscription fee. I even bought a Kiosk from Toast. I was stating a fact that the "kiosk button""will appear on the toast app menu no matter which device you are on, and therefore you can turn "any device" into a kiosk if you click on that button. But will it work though? The answer is no. The kiosk module will only work with compatible devices. But I do agree with you! The kiosk option should not show up on devices that aren't supposed to have.

But the POS is not a compatible device with the kiosk subscription?

It is compatible; Kiosk is also a "mode" you can put the device in
