Multiple charges to customers account, mostly pending but there has to be a better way???

I manage 3 locations and our service model primarily uses tabs and we have set Toast to preauth for $.01. We constantly get calls back from customers about there being multiple charges on their bank statements. We try and explain to them that these are pending and eventually will fall off but there's a good amount of people that don't believe you. We're making sure we are running the card first before anything is rung in, we ring in the items they want, send the order to the kitchen / bar ECT. Once the guest has finished their meal, we drop the check, our servers go in and enter their tips and close out the checks. In theory that should be 2 transactions but its not a good deal of the time. 

Is anyone else running into this problem? any words of advice on what we can do to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there @SteveFortunato, my establishment operates in the same way. I see this often with private institutions. This is how I explain this to guests:

"The pre-authorization charge of $.01 is voided immediately, the way card pre-authorizations appear on online bank statements will vary depending on the cardholder’s bank. The holds typically disappear one to two business days after the transaction. Once banks open back up on Monday/Tuesday, they will process the final payment. If you have any further issues, I am here to help but I suggest calling your bank first. I can also email you a copy of your receipt to show we only have one final charge to that card.
