QR code on back of gift cards

I'm getting ready to order gift cards and am at the final stage of submitting but am wondering what the QR code on the back of the gift cards is.  The preview that I have doesn't look like it's linked to any URL.  Is the QR code on the preview simply a static image?  If so what URL is the final QR code linked to?

It's a link that shows the cards balance, as well as let's customers reload the card. Can also be scanned by the POS camera to lookup the card.
