Changing Online Order Pickup to Delivery (using Toast Delivery Services)

We use TDS (Toast Delivery Services) and want to know how to change an online Pickup order to a Delivery order when a  customer inadvertently selects Pickup when they meant Delivery.

I tried changing the dining option on the screen to Online Delivery and it let me but eventually said "this order cannot be delivered by Doordash at this point because it has already been fired to the kitchen"

You can’t do it as far as I know. We’ve had this problem too and it’s very frustrating. I have no idea why they block it. 

Usually what we do is just take down the customer’s phone number and then make a brand new order manually at the register, and choose TDS first. Type in the phone number, and it’ll show you the previous orders from that customer that you can then tap you duplicate. Once you do that, note the new order number. Go back to the old order, go to pay, then adjust the payment and move it to the new check. Void the old order. Go back to the new order and then close it out (it should now be fully paid) and TDS should take it from there. 

overly complicated, but kinda the only way to deal with it.

Yes. We do the same. The biggest issue for us is that we are a butcher shop  and for Xmas holidays we have set up Pre Ordering using Time Based Ordering rules in the Online Pro 

Yes. We do the same. The biggest issue for us is that we are a butcher shop  and for Xmas holidays we have set up Pre Ordering using Time Based Ordering rules in the Online Pro. So for Xmas we have $40,000 plus in online ordering scheduled for the 3 days before Xmas. We had to turn off Delivery for the entire pre order time frame which is from Thanksgiving to 3 days before Xmas. You can only imagine with that amount of orders (over 200 for 3 days of pickups) the havoc it would create when someone calls and says please change my order to delivery or even worse Please Change My Order From Pickup To Delivery. Calling DoorDash and cancelling a delivery order is a disaster and time consuming. So yeah, we just turned delivery off for the holidays. Toast needs to make it easier , especially to cancel a delivery order. This should be something that is done directly on the POS or toast tab. It must be posible because if an order can be scheduled for delivery through Toast there certainly must be a way to cancel a delivery through toast instead of having to call DoorDash which is a disaster, and then if you actually get through to DoorDash and have the correct info for them i.e. your business id which by the way is not your toast store id , and then if DoorDash is able to cancel the delivery you are warry as to was the customer refunded ,etc, etc , etc.
