Does anyone know if there is a way to offer our guests a way to do online group ordering via the toast website that does NOT involve having to use the "Digital menu/Order from your device/Pay from your device" upgrade? We do not have table servers and we do not need to offer QR codes with guests ordering from their tables, nor can we justify the additional monthly fee when we don't use those services.
We simply want to have the ability for multiple people at a business to be able to order food via our website and pay separately but have it aggregate into one order for delivery with toast delivery services through Toast. (Similar to the U. Eats group ordering feature.)
Any recommendations out there?

I completely agree! I actually submitted this as a feature request a while ago. We often receive large group orders from offices and buildings in the area, so having this option available would be incredibly helpful. Hopefully, it's something that can be added in the future.

Well, kind of but you'd have to work it backwards, likely more trouble than its worth.
In the catering side, you can build a menu specific for customers they could all order from that menu, then 'Split' the bill when they pay, as a shop i feel like that would be too clunky.
You might try creating a discount code for each 'Group' that they use specifically when they order, have them use the Tab-Name Field as the Group or Company name they are associated with.
That way, you have individual tickets for each order and 100% are paid for, no one missing there order 'not paying'.
One of our neighboring restaurants uses the catering function for group menus, but usually it combines the bill.
Fun thought! Good luck
