clock in / clock out

if I'm not using toasts payroll services should me the owner and waitresses that use the pos still be using the clocking in/out  option? we have been with toast for about a month now and we don't clock in or out in toast pos, to me it sounds like its strictly for the restaurants that use the payroll service. or am i wrong ? how does this effect my close out day activities if im not using this option?  cant seem to get a straight forward answer from customer support.

It's a bit challenging to answer your question because we don't have details about your location's closing procedures. The clock in/out process is designed to help the location track operations more effectively, whether they use Toast Payroll or not it should be completed, but if your location has its own method, that is fine. However, we don't know how this might be impacting you.

If you are not clocking in and out, shift reviews are likely not being done either. In this case, if there are any reporting issues, Toast may be unable to assist you effectively. We strongly encourage both clocking in/out and conducting shift reviews, but ultimately, it's up to the location to decide.

correct we are not doing shift reviews, we go straight to sales report to see how much cc tips goes to each person, we then pay those tips in cash from the register, then we go to the close out day page and do the rest there. its pretty much just us the owners me and the wife using the POS and 1 day or two  a week where a waitress works, if we do start using this option should the waitress be the only one clocking in/out or me and the wife as well?

If you start using these options, you should create job roles for yourself as "owner" and set these to salary; then, you can make a "waitress" job role set to hourly. Since you're set to salary, you won't need to clock in/out. Then, you can follow the clock-in/clock-out and shift review procedures for the other employees.
