Is there a way to enter notes on a customer? For example, a customer that needs to pay first when they call an order in. Our old POS system would pop up a message box with 'critical' remarks when that customer was selected on the order screen.

A few days ago I got beta access to a guest book feature that allows guest notes, not sure If they show up on the POS yet, I'll test that later. Just thought I would let you know that it appears to be in the works.

Has Toast done anything on this issue? This is a big one for phone orders. When people have burned us in the past by not paying or they consistently order at the wrong location, or they regularly forget to tell us they need gluten-free...all this could be avoided with a popup or customer notes section when the order is called in. Where do things stand on this important feature?

Yes, there was an update on this weeks ago. You can now add notes on guest profile through Toast Guestbook. Notes will show up in the guest profile at the top right corner of the pos screen when an phone number is input.

Thanks so much. Do you know, can the notes be added from the POS so our staff can do it or do I have to do it on the back end guest profile?
