We are trying to create efficiency by seeing who is doing what on the pos so we can track mistakes, waste, voids, discounts, etc...not to mention try to figure out what areas staff need additional training.
PROBLEM IS: Our servers are throwing a massive stink for having to login under their own code so we can track who is doing what. They want it open and use each others codes. We do agree that when it get's really busy, it causes mass delay in putting in orders, which causes frustration. Plus, it does cause a headache with entering in all the tips at the end of the night. The severs therefore are not wanting to use this feature which gives us no way to figure out who is doing what, how to make corrections, or address additional training needs.
QUESTION TO OTHER RESTAURANTS:
Do you require your servers to login under their own login to create, edit, void, or refund tickets? Or do you allow them to use each others logins? If you do require them to each use their own login...how do you get past/address this defiant attitude with staff? And how do you deal with when it get's busy and at the close of the night enter tips quickly?
