Is there a trick or facility to automatically remove out of stock after a period?

We offer a few lunch specials to help office folks during the week. On holidays such as Thanksgiving, we don't offer them. I don't have an easy way to handle them right now; I mark them out of stock. And remind myself to go turn it back on the first weekday we are open after that break.

I think it might be really simple to add a period for the OOS. Like turn it back on in a day, or #of days. So this is automated, and I can just click commit and forget.

Alternatively, if I had write privilege to the menu, I could run a cron job on my Linux system to simply turn it back on on the day we want to make it available.

Thoughts? as a feature request.

@Rob ... If you can help forward this as a feature request, that would be awesome

At the moment, Toast doesn’t support setting a timer on out-of-stock items (e.g., automatically bringing an item back in stock on a specific day), so marking the item OOS and re-enabling it later is currently the expected workflow.
The closest built-in option is Menu Availability, which lets you set lunch specials to appear only on certain days/times, though it doesn’t cover one-off holidays.
Other operators have requested a “sold-out-for-the-day/auto-restock” feature as well, so I’ll add your feedback to that ongoing request so Product can consider this!

Perfect, that's exactly what I had in mind. Sold out for the day is ideal for temporarily out of stock. If they are doing that 1 day or additional days come i free :-). I didn't mean hours or such. Just a few days is good. For e.g. lamb is 86'ed now, but I know I'm going for shopping in 2 days and i can almost certainly get this on stock then—even a push on the toast. Now would be perfect, so you can get confirmation when this happens.

Thanks Rob for being proactive and being our voice in the community! Kudos to you!
