phone orders showing on KDS broken into courses. How to stop?

I have a problem with how my restaurant’s orders show on the Kitchen Display System (KDS). For dine-in orders, I want them to be divided by courses like appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and that part works fine. But for phone orders, pickups, and deliveries, I want everything to show on the KDS as one order without dividing it into courses.

If the order is placed online, it shows correctly as one order on the KDS, but when servers manually enter phone orders using the regular menu, it gets divided by courses like a dine-in order. How can I make sure phone orders always show on the KDS as one order without dividing by courses?  Is there a way to force phone orders to automatically use the online menu?

Do you have a separate menu for online orders? I believe no courses is just how online orders behave normally, not sure why any dining option with a takeout behavior doesn't just work the same way. If you do already have an online/takeout specific menu that is hidden from the POS, you can unhide in device setup if you would like to use it for phone orders.

Yes, we have a separate menu to online orders - mainly to prevent people from ordering alcohol, since our license is only for dine-in alcohol sales.  When that menu (the default for online orders) is used, the dividing into courses on kds doesn’t occur.   If we switch to the online order menu for taking a phone order, it acts correctly, it is just servers are not remembering to change to the online menu when selling a phone order.  I hope there’s a way to force all phone orders and take out (where the customer comes in and makes an order for take-out) to stop breaking it up by course on the kds.

Do you take all phone orders on the same device or on multiple?

We use multiple devices handhelds and the pos register.
