As Toast expands into more retail and Grocery operations it would be great if a handheld scanner could be used to take inventory using item barcodes. We use Toast in a small grocery setting that is also a meat and seafood butcher. All of our items are scanned at checkout. We use CAS labels to weigh meats and seafood and scan the CAS labels at checkout (it was tricky figuring out the # sequencing on the CAS labels to be able to scan them, they didn't just scan into the item , we had to manually enter a sequence of # from the label to make it work).
Using a scanner would make taking inventory very easy on the items that come with barcodes,.As for weighed CAS labels items like meat and seafood just putting the product on the CAS scale and printing the label and scanning all those into inventory. (this is how it used to be done at Wholefoods)
