Testing the hand held

I just received the hardware for Toast at my house and would like to try the handheld in test mode but it won't let me login.

Can you help me?

Do I have to be at the store to use it?

I think it should work but restricted, not 100% positive though, did you connect it to wifi, would definitely need internet.

Congrats on the new hardware! 
You do not need to be physically at the restaurant to log in or test the device. As long as it is connected to Wi-Fi, you should be able to set it up and explore from home.

One common issue is that the first login screen usually needs your Toast account email and password, not an employee PIN. Try logging in with the same email/password you use for Toast Web, and avoid autofill in case it is entering old credentials.

Once you’re in, you can use Test Mode to practice without affecting live sales or processing real payments. From the POS app, open the main menu, go to Setup, then choose Enable Test Mode and confirm. When you’re ready to use it live, go back and disable Test Mode.

If that email/password still does not work, try logging into Toast Web from a browser first or reset the password, then try again on the handheld.
