End of Day report report VS drawer history/cash audit

Hello,

Which report gives me the information that ACTUALLY happened to cash on a particular day?

My end of day report says cash collected was $461.81 and tip outs were $361.20

Close out overage =$95.18

My cash drawer /cash audit reports say cash collected was $245.90 and tip outs were $172.50.  I had one server that worked but I guess did not close out properly.  If I add her numbers to the cash drawer/cash audit report I still don't match.

Which report is accurate as far as what happened to cash that day?  What are Z reports and are these the same as the end of day and cash drawer reports I have access to view.

Does toast provide some kind of audit report that shows all changes that have been made to a particular day?  I know it is possible to make adjustments to these reports as I have seen these reports change.  Does any report capture these changes?

I am a senior accountant that is responsible for providing financial reporting for several restaurants and I feel I am not looking at the right reports.

Thank you

The cash drawers report provides an overview of all cash activity at a single location daily. Each column summarizes a physical cash drawer, the House, or an individual server. The Total column will equal the sum of cash collected into all cash drawers and the House.

To determine what actually happened to cash on a particular day, you should consider using the following reports:

1. End-of-Day Report: This report provides an event log of every order and cash drawer transaction. It can help you see cash movement for the day by changing the setting to "Cash only."
2. Drawer History Report: This report gives an overview of all cash activity at a single location for a specific day. It allows you to break down the details of each cash drawer and each employee who had cash-in-hand transactions.
3. Cash Activity Audit Report: This report shows all cash drawer details at a certain location over a period of time, which can be useful for auditing purposes.

Z reports are typically end-of-day summaries showing sales, returns, and cash drawer totals. They are similar to the End of Day and Cash Drawer reports you can access, but the specific content may vary based on your setup.
Toast provides audit reports showing changes made to a particular day. The Cash Activity Audit Report can help you track these changes, as it pulls up cash drawer activity details for auditing purposes.
If you are responsible for financial reporting for several restaurants, ensure you have the necessary permissions to access all relevant reports. You might also want to consult the Permissions Reference Guide to ensure you have the correct access.

Thanks Rob.  I use all three reports but they do not match!!  Why do that not match?

One thing to keep in mind that cash drawer/cash audit report won't reflect the cash received by workers who have not clocked out yet.

Thank you!  Even when I add the server that did not clock out to the numbers from the cash drawer/ cash audit report they don't match the end of the day report.  Is there a report that shows all adjustments made to the cash drawer/cash audit report by a manager or adm?  Is it possible for a manger to adjust the end of the day report?  How as an accountant can I verify cash is correct if the end of day the report does not match the cash drawer/cash audit report?  Which report accurately tells me what happened that day as far as cash in and out?  Ugggh:)
