KDS for Drink Prep in Coffee Shop

We currently print ticket labels to place on drink cups in our coffee shop. This helps ensure each drink is made correctly and goes to the right customer. I’ve heard of other shops switching to a KDS for drinks — how do they make sure each drink still ends up with the correct person?

If the KDS you are using only does the drinks you could have it print to the label printer after it is fulfilled then put it on cup.

Hi! We use a combination of ticket labels and a KDS, but we currently only print ticket labels for carryout orders. If you do decide to also use a KDS, there are a few ways you can configure printing to compliment the KDS depending on whether you want labels for all orders or only for specific dining options:

1. Automatic Printing: 

   • Assign the label printer to your Drink Prep station.

   • Use item routing if you only want labels to print for specific dining option. Configure Ticket Routing and Filter Tickets on Your KDS Device

   • Labels will print automatically as orders are received.

2. Manual Printing: Set Up and Print Item Labels

   • Assign the label printer to your Drink Prep station’s KDS.

   • The employee can manually print the ticket from the KDS once the beverage is prepared.

3. Print on Fulfilled: Configure Auto-Print on Fulfill

   • Make sure the label printer is assigned to the KDS.

   • Enable Auto-Print on Fulfilled, so when a beverage is cleared from the KDS, the ticket label prints.
