Is there a way to take multiple orders from the same table instead of splitting at time of payment?

We often run into this when there is a large party and they all want to pay separately. Say we split into 5 checks.

Typically we handle this at the end during payment and split them accordingly. Is it possible to basically do that at the time of taking orders? For e.g if table #1 has 5 check split. I want to keep the same table, but something to tell this is party 1, 2 .. etc.

Waiters know which table directly looking the same table number, but the check number would be Check 29-1, 29-2 etc and makes that final thing a lot easy to accomplish.

Looks like the AI front end was able to find it, I haven't tested this, but will try out tomorrow when we are open.

Yes, you can take orders as split checks directly on your Toast tablet for large parties. Here's how:
  1. On any check, select the Split button (the icon with two split arrows below the guest count).
  2. You can create empty checks and drop items into each check as you take orders throughout the dining experience.
When splitting checks, you have these options:
  • Tap and drop - Simply tap individual items and move them to a new check
  • Split evenly - Tap this with an item selected to divide it by any number
  • Split by seat - If you've assigned seat numbers, this splits the check by seats with one tap
The split check screen has been visually updated with buttons in the top right corner that make the process more intuitive.
If you split checks before sending the order to the kitchen, it will be sent as separate tickets.

The check numbers can be distinct numbers as they are now.. for e.g Check 29 is the first, and it could be Check 40 is the 2nd etc.. As long as they are all linked to that table, or choosing a check gives all the related checks is nice (which I think it does already)

Just a way to take orders upfront and not have to wait for the payment time to split would be nice feature

I'm curious as to why you're not just putting the orders in by seat number?
When you're done, it the button and Boom!  Separate checks.

Yes, this is one of the methods in the solution from chat. It's a bit complicated when they might order an appetizer or a pitcher of beer to share, but entrees are served separately.
