Preauthorizing Credit Cards with Chip

Is Toast looking at adding the ability to preauthorize credit cards using the chip rather than the magnetic strip?  Since it currently only uses the magnetic strip, I feel it puts us at a disadvantage if a customer initiates a chargeback on a preauthorized card that is closed out to the card on file.  I was at a bar while on vacation that was using OnePos and they were able to preauthorize cards using the chip, so I know it's possible.

Currently, this is the only way to pre-authorize. However, we might address this later in the year, but it's not certain yet.

Thank you for your reply.  Please keep us in the loop as you hear more.  It seems like it would be important for preventing chargebacks.

Happy to hear that we will be able to preauthorize card with the chip or tap within the next month. Do you know if starting with the tap will be able to pull over the customer name? Currently if you pay with a tap, the receipt just says "Visa Cardholder" or something similar.

This just rolled out to our restaurant today an the answer is no, it does not pull the customer's name if you tap. Is this something Toast is working on?
