We have decided to use a Prep Station KDS at our Appetizer station. We currently are using the hold feature so we have course pacing off but we have item pacing set to enable item fire by prep time. We do not have prep times set at the item or modifier level. Under Takeout and Delivery we have Quote Times Strategy set by Kitchen Capacity, Quote time set to 15 min.
Our Apps station supports both main dine in expo and our takeout/pickup/(both doordash and toast's delivery by doordash)delivery orders. Our Apps team members really like the prep station upgrade but have one gripe. When it gets busy, any scheduled orders (aside from online orders) do not send to the apps prep station until the set quote time of 15 minutes activates. So we can see the ticket as HELD on the Takeout Expo KDS but we don't see it on the apps prep station. We can use Rush but that is manual. Is there somewhere I can program appetizers to fire to the apps prep station sooner than the 15 minutes when the Takeout KDS releases from held?
Also, I mentioned that we see and can utilize Rush, but I don't see Fire on the KDS Expo Screen for any dining options other than doordash and for the doordash option it is always grayed out. Why would this be? I confirmed the kds employee has the correct access flagged and under kitchen we have Override Item Prep Time set to YES.
We use enterprise so we have multiple sites using the same menu items programmed into Toast. If I were to use Item and Modifier Prep times, can I set for an individual site without making a version of the item and without disrupting the prep time setup for the other stores? For instance, I can set different prep stations to the same item in one site than another site and I don't have to version the item.
