We are an assisted service pub, guests order at a central order point but from that point we do full service. When the order goes to the KDS we then deliver a caddy with salt, pepper, napkins and cutlery. On quieter days we won't have someone fixed to the pass so need a way of signalling on the KDS it has been done so everyone can see when they look at the screen.
We currently have an item set called "Caddy" and we fulfil the single item when done so ticked on the KDS but procedure falls down if someone forgets to add the item and we can't force the add for specific items only all orders which we don't want for anything other than starters and mains (ie. drinks, hot drinks, desserts etc).
Does anyone have something similar and a better way of administering?
Also while I'm here we currently auto fire mains when starters are fulfilled by expo but then have no way of signalling to expo when starter plates are actually cleared only that they've been sent. Any hacks for this?
