I have both "Group by Plate" and "Consolidate Menu Items" activated on the backend.
I'm trying to move entirely towards using the kitchen display system instead of physical tickets. However, it's a huge handicap that the KDS won't group menu items on a ticket.
For example, an order on a physical ticket will read:
3 Caesar Salads, Position 1, Position 3, Position 4
While that exact same order will show on the KDS as:
1 Caesar Salad, Position 1
1 Caesar Salad, Position 3
1 Caesar Salad, Position 4
The only time the menu items will be grouped on the KDS is if there are no seat numbers selected, but this is not an option I can remove because we are a full-service restaurant that uses seat numbers. Is there some workaround for this? It seems like there should be a relatively straightforward setting for this.

We are a fast casual. So I don't really have any experience with dine-in/table service configuration. On top on my head, if you add seat # as modifiers, it should work as you want it to.

You're saying that I should create a seat numbers modifier instead of using the setting that's available?

I don't think there is a workaround for this, group by plate is only for printed tickets, and consolidate items needs them to be completely the same, main item and modifiers (seat number is technically a modifier)
