I wanted to ask if you all have any advice or insight into the best process for entering EZ Cater orders into Toast, as we're getting close to rolling it out. Since EZ Cater doesn’t integrate directly with Toast, I understand from another restaurant that they manually enter each catering order and close it out under a dedicated “EZ Cater” button.
Where I’m running into confusion is with the payment process:
I’ve already built our catering menu in Toast so that we can accurately enter orders. However, since payment is collected through EZ Cater, I’m unsure how to reflect that properly in Toast. Comping the item doesn’t seem like the right approach, as that would look like we’re giving away food.
If you’re not sure of the exact process, is there someone you could connect me with who might have experience handling EZ Cater orders in Toast?
Appreciate your help!
Thank you,
Tessa

We have a payment button for Ez Cater, and reconcile that against payments from Ez Cater. Just make sure to apply the discounts taken from Ez Cater.

Thank you! I added an EZ Cater payment button. A couple of questions:
Can we submit these orders through Toast Catering & Events? If so, do you mind sharing step by step how this process works (entering order, applying payment button, discounts)
If we ring this in on the POS, do you mind sharing step by step how this process works (entering order, applying payment button, discounts)
How do you apply discounts taken from EZ Cater? Are you talking about the percentage they take from the order / fees? Do you mind listing those. You are such a help thank you!

We do not put it in through the catering side. I go to a POS and put it in manually. At the bottom of your Ez cater you will see the discounts applied to the orders. I do an "open cash discount" and make sure I match the numbers. I print out a copy of the receipt and staple it to the order from Ez Cater. On the day the catering is due, I pay out the invoice.
