We were really happy to see that some of the posters on this community board's suggestions were made real by TOAST by introducing a way to record food waste each day. It does work and was simple to set-up.
However, we were just so surprised today to learn that:
"Each selection on the check is discounted to $0 using an item-level 100% discount. This discount is created automatically by the Toast platform and has the name Waste."
This really throws off our YOY comparisons. Instead of $400 in discounts last week, it was $1200. So no way to compare apples to apples anymore.
Waste really should not be reported to any discount category but be it's own separate field/reporting item.
